Solo trip to Reykjavik: Discover the Icelandic capital
Travel report
By: Elara Nordström
When I entered the hotel in Reykjavik, I immediately felt the special flair of this city. I was traveling alone, but the exciting atmosphere around me did not make me feel lonely. My room offered a breathtaking view of the city’s colorful houses, and the light of the midnight sun filled the room with a warm glow.
One of my personal highlights was the visit to the Hallgrímskirkja, one of the most iconic churches in Iceland. I climbed the tower and was rewarded with a spectacular view of the city and the surrounding mountains. At that moment, I felt indescribably free.
A special highlight was the visit to the geothermal baths nearby. It was my first visit to a hot spring and I can only say that it was magical! The warm water enveloped me as I looked at the snow-covered mountains. The sunset painted the sky in delicate pastel shades, and I couldn’t help but smile.
My insider tip for travelers: Visit the small café „Café Babalú“. Here you will find the best coffee in town and the cozy atmosphere invites you to linger. I had interesting conversations with other travelers there and immediately felt at home.
Overall, I can highly recommend Reykjavik. The city has so much to offer, even for a solo traveler like me. I made new friends and created unforgettable memories. It was an adventure I will never forget.
